About this work:
The Two Fairy Tales, Op. 48 belong to Medtner's middle-late period and were composed in 1925 during his years in exile in Western Europe. Though concise, these two pieces are among the most vivid examples of Medtner's gift for creating distinct narrative worlds within highly concentrated musical forms. Medtner often performed the two pieces together as a pair.
