Three Hymns in Praise of Toil, Op. 49

Volume 7
FUTURE RELEASE, VOLUME 7
LISTEN

About this work:
Written during a difficult period of exile, Op. 49 can be viewed as Medtner's artistic response to adversity. While many composers of his generation sought innovation through modernism, Medtner remained committed to the ideals of craftsmanship, tradition, and disciplined creative work. The "toil" of the title refers not merely to physical labor, but to the moral and artistic effort required to create enduring art.
