Three Fairy Tales, Op. 42

The Three Skazki, Op. 42 were composed shortly after Medtner left Russia and settled in Germany. Written during the difficult transition from his homeland to life in exile, these pieces belong to his mature period and show the Skazka genre at its most concentrated and refined. Although relatively brief, each piece creates a distinct poetic atmosphere while maintaining the structural integrity that Medtner prized throughout his career.
