Three Dithyramben, Op. 10

Volume 8
FUTURE RELEASE, VOLUME 8

About this work:
The Three Dithyrambs, Op. 10 are among Medtner's earliest mature piano works and reveal a side of the composer that is often overlooked: exuberant, celebratory, and openly passionate. The title Dithyramb refers to an ancient Greek hymn of praise associated with Dionysus, suggesting music of exaltation, ecstasy, and affirmation. Unlike the introspective world of the later Skazki or sonatas, these pieces project a youthful vitality and rhetorical grandeur. The set was published in 1906 and consists of three contrasting piano pieces.
