Fairy Tale in D minor

The Fairy Tale in D Minor is a standalone Skazka composed in 1915, between the Sonata-Ballade, Op. 27 and the wartime Skazki of Opp. 34 and 35. Unlike many of Medtner's fairy tales, it was published separately rather than as part of a collection, making it a unique entry in his catalog. It belongs to a period marked by the upheaval of World War I and reflects a darker, more dramatic side of Medtner's imagination.
